Ashley has been the Choral Director, General Music Teacher, and Voice Lesson Instructor at Mineral Point Unified Schools in Wisconsin since 2016. She is an Adjunct Instructor of Music Theory through CAPP UW-Oshkosh. Ashley is also the MPHS Musical Theatre Club Head Advisor, Music Director, and Choreographer. She was a recipient of the Herb Kohl Teacher Fellowship in 2023. Ashley serves neighboring Honors Choir Conferences as a Guest Conductor and Clinican. She is a member of NATS, NAfME, ACDA, and WSMA, and is a Certified Adjudicator for WSMA. Ashley also serves as a Director for Platteville Children's Choir and a Board Member for the Mineral Point Opera House. Most recently, Ashley has performed with Fresco Opera, Mineral Point Chamber Musicians, Belle Ensemble, Pop Factory Players, and Characters 2 Life. Ashley has worked at Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp since 2013, where she directs the Minor Choir and teaches Vocal Technique and Choral Sectional classes. She has performed in Faculty Showcases and Staff Recitals, Choral Concerts and Masterwork Performances, and in the 2018 and 2022 Blodgett Recital Series. Ashley provides private voice lessons through MP summer school program and her home studio. She also serves as a percussionist and drumline coach for a variety of events and educational programs. Studies: Ashley has studied privately with Dr. Joshua Glasner since 2020. She earned, from New York University Steinhardt, her Master of Music in Classical Voice Performance in the studio of Rosa Vento, and an Advanced Certificate in Vocal Pedagogy under the guidance of Jeremy Aye and Dr. Brian Gill. At Eastern Illinois University, Ashley completed her Master of Arts in Vocal Performance, and a Bachelor of Music in K-12 Vocal Music Education under the direction of Dr. Marilyn Coles. She has partaken in Professors Wesbrooks and Lesser's Living Inside the Story workshop, The Mind Body Music School's Peak Performance course, Total Vocal Freedom's Alexander Technique for Singers Retreat and Alexander Technique in Your Voice Studio Seminar, as well as Mindful Voice Production's NYC Masterclass & Seminar. Past Positions, Experiences & Honors: Since moving to Wisconsin, Ashley has served as an adjudicator for Classical Singer's virtual competition entries 2019-20. She also performed as a ringer with Baroque on Beaver Festival Chorus in 2018, and a soloist and percussionist in the Frank Lloyd Wright 150th Birthday Concert Series at Taliesin Hillside Theatre in 2017. Ashley was an Adjunct Instructor of non-major voice lessons at NYU Steinhardt, and an independent teacher in the NYC metro area 2013-16. She also adjudicated for NYU's Music Education Bachelor Recital panel. During her time in NYC, Ashley performed with New York Lyric Opera Theatre's DiMenna Center Opera Show in 2016 and Carnegie Hall Opera Gala in 2015. She also sang with the Washington Square Singers in 2015 and the Brooklyn Metro-Chamber Orchestra in 2014. Throughout her studies at NYU Steinhardt, Ashley was seen onstage in numerous productions and recitals, was the recipient of the Dean’s Scholarship in 2014, and a First Round Finalist of the Classical Singer Vocal Competitions in 2016 & 2015. She performed regularly at St. Francis Xavier Church and Regina Pacis Basilica in Brooklyn, as well as other parishes throughout Brooklyn and NYC for three years. Before moving to NYC, Ashley sang for the Music in the Marché in Mondavio, Italy and the Midwest Institute of Opera in Bloomington, IL in 2012. While in Illinois, Ashley received the Booth Library Award for Excellence in Student Research and Creativity in 2012 and was selected to present at Newberry Library’s 2013 Multidisciplinary Graduate Student Conference. Ashley presented her research at numerous poster conferences and received the honor of having one of her research papers published in The Keep. She also volunteered as a choral director at the Christian Academy and performed for Mattoon's First Presbyterian Church for seven years. During her time at EIU, Ashley was the recipient of the Talented Student Award, the Golden Lyre Award, and a graduate assistantship, in which she served as the Business Manager and Music Librarian of the Eastern Symphony Orchestra, Camerata Ensemble, Concert Choir, and University Mixed Chorus. She was a Concerto winner, Departmental Honors recitalist, and was seen regularly on a variety of stages and venues throughout the campus and community. Ashley served as the Choral Advisory President in 2007-09, Choral Advisory Committee Co-Chair 2007-10, and a member of Kappa Delta Pi 2009-14 and IMEA 2008-09. |
